Follow-up financing: when you should start planning
As of: September 2026 · Erhan Özcan
Short answer
When your fixed-interest period ends, you have three options: extension, debt restructuring or a forward loan. Those who plan and compare early have the choice.
Extension
You extend with your current bank. This is convenient, but not automatically the best offer.
Debt restructuring
You switch to another bank at the end of the fixed-interest period. A comparison across many banks shows what is possible.
Forward loan
You secure the terms up to a few years in advance. This creates planning security.
Plan early
Ideally, look into this topic several years before it expires and compare offers.
